Can Washers for Industrial Beverage and Container Cleaning

Washing or rinsing the outside of a can can help remove dust, debris and other surface contaminants before opening. An industrial exterior rinse tunnel is designed for production-line cleaning of container exteriors, not for rinsing the inside of the can. The appropriate cleaning media, drainage and sanitation controls should be selected according to the facility’s process and hazard analysis.

The Model #42 cleans the exterior surfaces of bottles, cans and containers. It is designed to remove external dust, debris, product residue and other contaminants using air, water, sanitiser, chemicals or combinations of these media. It does not clean inside containers. For interior cleaning, McBrady offers other equipment intended for that application.

McBrady publishes throughput of up to 150 bottles per minute for the Model #42. Actual suitability depends on the container, residue, cleaning media, tunnel length, conveyor arrangement and required dwell. The machine is available in configurable lengths, so confirm the expected container rate and cleaning result with McBrady before selecting the final build.

Yes. The Model #42 is designed to mount around a customer’s existing conveyor, helping avoid an additional container transfer. McBrady can also supply a conveyor on request. Conveyor height, tunnel length, line space, electrical requirements and the scope of supply should be confirmed during quotation because these details affect the equipment configuration.

The Model #42 can use air, water, sanitiser, chemical or combinations of these cleaning media. The right selection depends on the residue, container, downstream process and facility controls. If chemicals or sanitisers are used, confirm compatibility, concentration, drainage and residue requirements with McBrady and the site’s quality or sanitation team before ordering.

The standard construction includes a Type 304 stainless steel frame, FDA-approved Lexan and FDA-approved plastics, stationary stainless manifolds, plastic-lined guide rails and a NEMA 4 stainless-steel electrical enclosure. A 316L stainless-steel upgrade, sloped NEMA 4X electrical box and washdown package are available options. Confirm the required material and enclosure specification for your environment.
